J. Edwin Henson

Ed Henson is the Founding Member of Henson & Hanks. He has over 50 years of experience representing clients in Western North Carolina. Ed is a native of Sylva, NC and moved to the Cashiers – Highlands area following law school. He has strong ties to the local community and the region – primarily focusing his legal work in Jackson, Macon and Transylvania Counties.
Ed’s practice focuses on real estate law, estate planning, probate and business formation. With his real estate practice, Ed has advised many developers and builders on both commercial and residential projects. He is highly familiar with the covenants, codes and restrictions that come with each community, as well as the unique attributes of the individual properties. He has conducted thousands of real estate closings for both buyers and sellers. Ed represents property associations on developing, amending, and managing their obligations to each community. He also represents several non-profit organization within the community.
Ed obtained his undergraduate degree from UNC in Economics and his Juris Doctorate from UNC Chapel Hill. He is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and serves on the Vestry of his church here in Cashiers. Ed is the father of one and enjoys spending time with his two grandchildren.
